Running Vincennes since 1978

Age: 49
How long have you been running?
I've been consistently running long distance for about 10 years. Prior to
that, I'd run off and on since the early 1980's.
Your 1st marathon?
My first marathon was Chicago in 1998 (qualified for Boston with less
than 30 seconds to spare)
How many marathons have you run?
4 marathons including Boston twice.
What was your best marathon finish time?
Boston 2002; 3hrs 15 min.
What was your favorite marathon?
Portland, Oregon
What are some of your PR's?
Mile N/A
5K 18:30
10 miler N/A
Half: 1:32 (Indy)
Marathon 3:15 (Boston)
What was your most memorable racing experience?
My first Boston Marathon, running through Wellsley College, the all girls
school along the route. You hear the crowd cheering from a good
distance away, and it was such a rush seeing the excitement of all those
young college kids going crazy trying to make some sort of contact with
the runners.
What is your favorite method of training?
I use a combination of methods... mostly tips from local runners
(especially Bill Conner) blended in with my own style.
Do you have a favorite running book?
I have never really read any running books, I just go out and run!
Who do you most admire as a runner?
Bob Turner (he's a warrior), George Varns (he's inspiring - he's like the
energizer bunny, "he just keeps going"), and Brent Stuckey (he's fun to
run with)
